Decision 15/5 of the 15th COP has undergone readjustments integrating new indicators and especially binary indicators. The Parties should complete a crucial step by putting the latest update to the monitoring framework. Such an approach requires Burkina Faso to have effective capacities, tools, and systems to support national biodiversity monitoring, as well as greater standardization of monitoring approaches to enable the aggregation of national contributions to understand global progress. Thanks to funding from FAO and with the Technical Collaboration of CIFOR-ICRAF, the SP/CNDD, as the national administrative authority for the implementation of the CBD in Burkina Faso, has a first draft of national indicators related to biological diversity. This work, which was carried out in April 2024 in Koudougou, involved the effective participation of the main actors involved in the conservation of biological diversity in Burkina Faso.
In order to operationalize the conclusions of COP16 and continue the establishment of the CMB-KM monitoring and evaluation system in Burkina Faso, the SP/CNDD is organizing a workshop to take into account the results of COP 16 in the system for monitoring and evaluating indicators related to biological diversity in Burkina Faso.
