While the COP27 on climate has just ended, another summit has begun, that of the COP15 on biodiversity, from 7 to 19 December in Montreal, Canada. Here too, the challenge is very important since it is a question of adopting new global objectives to fight against biodiversity loss.

From 15 to 17 December 2022, a high-level segment is being held during which each country will express its views on its commitments to biodiversity. For Burkina Faso, the delegation is led by Ms. Sévérine BATIONO KANSSONO, Minister Counsellor, Chargé d'Affaires a.i., at the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Ottawa (Canada). Assisted by Mr. Amadé OUEDRAOGO, Focal Point of the Convention on Biological Diversity of Burkina Faso, Madame the Ambassador will speak at this meeting to give the position of our country.

The 196 countries meeting in Montreal must agree to put in place the global framework that will make it possible to slow the decline of biodiversity. A draft of the declaration was presented to the ministers and delegates of the various countries on Wednesday 14 December 2022, in preparation for the “high-level segment” where political representatives will work to finalize the agreement.
