IUCN started its activities in Burkina Faso in 1990 by funding a program called “Natural Resource Management in Southern Burkina (GRENASUB).” The accession of the State of Burkina Faso as a member of IUCN took place at the end of 1990. The authorization to open an IUCN national office was materialized in January 1992 by the signing of a headquarters agreement with the Government of Burkina Faso.
