The “Adaptation Based on Ecosystems of the Global Environment Facility (EBA/GEF)” project was born from the common will of the Government of Burkina Faso, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF). Created by joint decree No. 2015-058 /MERH/MEF of 08 April 2015 and officially launched in August 2015, the project is planned to be implemented over a period of six years (72 months) and its implementation is ensured by the Ministry of the Environment, Green Economy and Climate Change (MEEVCC) through a management unit under the Permanent Secretariat of the National Council for Environment and Sustainable Development (SP/CNDD).

The Project aims to reduce the vulnerability of livelihoods dependent on natural resources in two landscapes threatened by the effects of climate change in Burkina Faso: the Boucle du Mouhoun forest corridor (BdM) and the wetlands of the Mare d'Oursi basin ((MdO)” (EBA-FEM).
